Happy Easter ...

I can't believe that March is over.  Hopefully, April will actually bring the Spring weather back to Northern Illinois.  I'm really tired of the cold. ;(

April is going to be a BIG month.  Katie is being measured for her bridesmaid dress, and I'm taking my first Copic Markers class this Saturday.  Katie also turns 19 this month.  Then there is the Annual Auction for the Laremont/ELS Parent Teacher Federation, which raises money for the Special Education students in Lake County.  There might be a surprise or two in there also.  Busy, busy, busy!  Can't wait.

Here is my card for the March Repeat Impression Sketch Challenge M2311 over at The House that Stamps Built.
Sending a shout out to the Copic Marker Group over at Craft Fancy.  I got the stamp for this card at the get together last weekend.
There's still time to play along with this challenge.  It closes on Tuesday, April 5th.

Thanks for stopping by.

I combined my new Critters in the Forest with Critters in the Snow and Critters in the 'Burbs to create my card.  Of course all of these adorable stamps are from Lawn Fawn

I colored this up with my copic markers.  Then created the blue sky and blended the grass colors together with distress ink.

Since I like to color, I had a lot of fun creating this card.

Sketchy Sunday TG012

I'm running behind on getting my creation made for Sketchy Sunday TG012, but as Tiffany says ... there is no deadline.

For this card I need to give a shout out to the Copic Markers Club over at Craft Fancy in Arlington Heights, IL.  My card contains one of the stamps they shared with me yesterday.  The club consists of a group of such sweet ladies who share their stamps amongst themselves on a monthly basis.  This was my first time joining them and they were very generous.  Thanks you ladies!

And here's a close up of the lovely stamp.

I have five more copies of this stamped just waiting to be colored.  Unfortunately, it will have to wait.  Katie is on Spring Break, and we have plans that I hope don't get cancelled this week.

Here's to hoping you enjoy my take on Tiffany's sketch.

News Flash ... Love You

I used a new stamp set along with a couple older sets to create this card for the following challenges.

Here's a close up of the tube so you can see its true colors.

I used the small flower from Spiffy Scooters to create my own PP on Lilac Pearlized paper.  The Tube was stamped onto French Vanilla and Blue Gemstones.  I fussy cut both pieces, and used my fingertip blade to remove the inside from the blue tube.  Added the sentiment on the vanilla, used an embossing brush to add some color, and then layered the blue tube on top.  I then stamped the cloud from Spiffy Scooters, fussy cut it out and used an embossing brush to add a little color, and stamped the sentiment inside the cloud.  I attached the PP to the card, attached the tube and cloud with foam squares, and added the rhinestones.

Once I completed the card I felt the tube didn't stand out enough so I took out my white gel pen and went over the lines on the tube.

The tube and "news flash" sentiment are from Paper Smooches April Release ... Boob Tubes.

I hope that you enjoy my fun card.

Thank you for stopping by.

Smile ... Skipping Stones Design

This is the first time I am participating in the challenge over at Skipping Stones Design ... Sketch #69.  I found out about this challenge site from the very talented Michele.  She is on their Guest Design Team for the month of March.

Used some new goodies to create this fun card.  I pulled out some Bazzill & Recollection scraps to create the blossom with my Cuttlebug and Nestabilities Blossom Die.  This blossom is perfect for the small blossom from Paper Smooches Friendly Flowers set, which I stamped on the top layer with Rhubarb Stalk from Memento.  I inked up the adorable bee with Tuxedo Black from Memento, stamped him onto yellow paper and fussy cut him out.  This guy came in my mail this week from Paper Smooches, and is part of the new Giddy Bugs set.  Isn't he adorable?  The sentiment is from the same set.

I had my cardstock for the card and background layers picked out.  So I trimmed them down, used my decorative corner punch on the background colors, and layered it all together.  I layed the blossom on the card to decide on the positioning of the leafy stem, stamped the leafy stem with black ink, and again on green scrap paper.  Fussy cut the leaves and attached them with mini glue dots, attached the blossom and adorable bee with pop dots.  Last step was to add the sentiment and the dotted line behind the bee.

Now for those of you wondering where you can get this adorable little guy.  The Giddy Bugs set is one of Paper Smooches new releases coming out in April.   Use the link to head over to their store, and sign up to Join their mailing list for update to date information on their releases.

I hope you enjoy my take on the sketch.

Thank you for stopping by.

Baby Steps ... Part 2

This is my second card for the current challenge over at Catch The Bug called "Baby Steps".  You can go here to see my first card.

This lovely digi stamp from Bugaboo is called SCENEIT Bear Bday, and it was a freebie from Bugaboo last Friday.  When I saw the theme for this weeks challenge I just knew I wanted to use this adorable stamp.  I first colored up the scene with my Prismacolor pencils, then added some copic markers into the mix to soften it up a bit.  I'm not much of a whip cream fan so I chose to go the chocolate fudge route for the icing.  I really love this stamp.  I used my Nestabilities S4-161, Labels One, to cut out the image and the polka dot pastel background from DCWV.  The main card is from Recollections, and the 1st layer is from Paper Studios.  I used a rounded corner punch on both of these sections.  The #1 on the yellow was created with a sticker, and I wrote the # with my black copic multi liner, and then attached it with mini glue dots.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my creations for this fun challenge.

Thank you for stopping by.

Baby Steps ... Part 1

This is the first of two cards I created for the current challenge over at Catch The Bug called "Baby Steps".  The theme is to create a Baby or Child project.

I printed up Michael Sitter from my purchased Bugaboo digi stamps, and colored him up with my copic markers.  I used both of the Warm Grays around the cute guy, then added some distress ink around the edges.  I used my Nestabilities S4-161, Labels One, to cut out this little guy along with the card and background layer.  I created the banner with Lawn Fawns Bannerific stamps set, added the sentiment from Lawn Fawns Hats off to You, and fussy cut it out and attached it with mini pop dots.

Thanks for stopping by.

CAS ... Teacher Thank You card

As I've been going thru the blogs I follow, I noticed that quite a few of you have created Teacher Thank You cards.  Thank you ladies for reminding me that I needed to start working on my cards.  School will be finishing up for my daughter Katie at the end of May.

The current challenge over at The Paper Players ... #39 calls for a Clean and Simple design to go with their sketch, so I started on those thank you cards I need to make.

I recently got My Silly Valentine set from Lawn Fawn.  So happy!  The apple in the set is perfect for teacher cards.  I inked up the apple with Memento Cottage Ivy, stamped it, and colored the leaves with my Copic Markers.  Yes, I intentionally stamped the apples unevenly.  I added the 3/8" ribbon from Paper Studio Bright set, and attached it to the base card.  To finish the card I inked up and added the sentiment.  This sentiment was free with one of my original orders from Lawn Fawn.

Here's to hoping you enjoy my CAS card.

Until next time.

Thinking of You ... CASE M16

For those of you who are followers of The House that Stamps Built you know that they posted their last CASE Card Challenge last week, M16.

I picked up a couple of new Repeat Impressions stamps in Rockford earlier this month, and I got to meet Wendy too.  Such a fun time.

I really fell in love with the Mountain Vista (#629-I) when I saw it earlier in the year, and just knew that I had to have it.  I inked it up with Memento Rich Cocoa, and had so much fun coloring this in with my Prismacolor Premium Pencils.  I used a couple of Copic Markers to soften up the sharpness of the pencils.  I broke up the Thinking of You (1105-E) sentiment when I inked it up.

Here is a close up of the Mountain Vista ...

As you can see I colored the sky in to reflect the sunset.  As I right up this post, and look at the close-up I think I'm going to add a bit of the sunset colors in the water before I send it off.

Product Spotlight ...
 - Stamps:  Repeat Impressions 629-I Mountain Vista, and 1105-E Thinking of You
 - Paper:  Archiver's PPR-RN, Bazzill, and Paper Studio
 - Ink:  Memento Rich Cocoa and Tuxedo Black, Prismacolor Premium Pencils, and Copic Markers
 - Extra:  Darice 5mm & 7mm Gems
 - Tools:  Trimmer, Nestabilities Classic Scalloped Squares, 3D Foam Squares, 3/16" Mini Glue Dots, and my ATG

I hope you enjoy my take on the CASE Challenge.  You still have time to plan along with this challenge ... the challenge is open until Tuesday, March 29th.

Thank you for stopping by.

Masculine Birthday Card

The Masculine Birthday card I created for the Paper Pretties Wednesday Challenge - PWC145 is for the adult man in your life.
I have a couple of masculine birthday's coming up in April.  Now I have to decide who to give this one to. ;-)

I used a digi stamp that I got free from the Bugaboo site in January this year.  The stamp is called Dottie Cupcake, and she is one sexy lady.  Perfect for creating a card for the men in your life.

I colored Dottie with my Copic Markers, used a White Gel Pen on the boots and for the fringes of the dress and laces, and then added the gems for her earrings.  After layering the papers I inked up the hearts, colored them in with the White Gel Pen, and then added the sentiment along the bottom.

Product Spotlight ...
 - Stamps:  Bugaboo Dottie Cupcake, and My Silly Valentine and Sophie's Sentiments from Lawn Fawn
 - Paper:  Paper Studio, Bazzill  & DCWV
 - Ink:  Copic Markers, and UniBall Signo Broad White Gel Pen
 - Extra:  Darice 5mm Gems
 - Tools:  Fiskars Scissors and Fingertip Blade, ATG, and 3/16" Mini Glue Dots

Hope you enjoy my masculine card.

Hopping by to say ... Happy Birthday!

I was excited to see that Wee Memories and Lawnscaping are teaming up to host this weeks Scrappy Saturday Challenge #48.  I used the colors from this weeks Just Us Girls Challenge #76 to create my card.

I really had a lot of fun creating this card.

- Paper:  Paper Studio, and DCWV Textured Brights
- Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Studio G Yellow Chalk, and Copic Markers C-0, R81, R83, R85, Y35 & Y02 along with a Black Multiliner

Play Date Cafe Challenge PDCC73

This weeks challenge over at The Play Date Cafe (PDCC73) is being sponsored by DeNami Design.  The colors they provided us to play with this week are super sweet!

The Design Teams from The Play Date Cafe and DeNami Design created lovely items for this challenge.

I love how these colors work together.  I stamped the DeNami N93 Glamour Dress on orange and some white paper, colored in the white copy with my copic markers and fussy cut it, and then layered it over the orange copy.  I then used a black small brush multi liner from copic along the left side of the dress.  Once done I layered it on top of the purple, and the card base.  The last step was to add some X-mas Red Stickles to create a sparkly necklace.

Remember to stop by both of the blogs to see the Design Team's creations.

Thanks for stopping by.

Celebrate today, and everyday

My final post for the day for Tiffany's Sketchy Sunday Challenge TG011.

Was running late on getting dinner started so I made a quick, and easy CAS card.

Product Spotlight ...
 Stamp:  Paper Smooches Pretty Phases
Paper:  Paper Studio Blank Ivory Notecard, and DCWV Linen Closet
 Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
Extra:  Yellow Ribbon from gift basket
Tools:  Trimmer, Scissors, Mini Pop Dots, and ATG

Here's to enjoying my CAS card.

Thank you for stopping by.

Monster Birthday Card ...

Paper Players Color Challenge #38 calls for some really pretty colors, and I really wanted to play along this week.

My card is one layer except for the wiggly eyes.  My Copic Markers, Memento Inks and Tim Holtz Distress Ink were used to assimilate the colors in this challenge.

I inked up the lovely monster from Paper Smooches Falling For You, stamped him on Bazzill French Vanilla cardstock, colored him with a variety of Copic Markers to get a rich chocolate color, add pink to the horns, and paper pieced his tooth with white paper.  Faded Jeans distress ink was used to get the light blue hugh around the card.  The cloud from Lawn Fawn's Party Cloudy set was stamped with Memento Angel Pink, and the sentiment from Paper Smooches Birthday Buddies was stamped with Memento Paris Dark.  Then I went over the whole card again lightly with the distress ink.  The finishing touch was to add the wiggly eyes with 3/16" mini glue dots.

Here's to hoping that enjoy my design for this challenge.

Thank you for stopping by.

Thinking of You

With International Earth Day coming up on March 20th, the current challenge over at Crazy 4 Challenges is to create a design that incorporates a tree (C4C78).

The PP from DCWV Linen Closet Matstack was covered with rain drops from Lawn Fawn's Partly Cloudy using Memento London Fog Ink.  The Large Winter DeNami Tree (P93) and leaf from Paper Smooches Friendly Flowers were inked up with Memento Cottage Ivy.  I colored the tree and leaves with a combination of Copic markers, using the MultiLiner to add the veins on the leaves.   Using the same Cottage Ivy ink I stamped the smiley face and sentiment from Lawn Fawn's Sophie's Sentiments.  The corners were rounded with a Creative Memories round corner punch.  Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Ink was added along the bottom portion of the tree, and below the sentiment.

Even though Tiffany has already awarded a badge for Sketchy Sunday Challenge TG10, I wanted to use her sketch.  Here is Tiffany's Sketch title Embracing Rounded Corners.

Here's to hoping you enjoy my take on Tiffany's Sketch, and the theme provided by Crazy 4 Challenges.

Thank you for stopping by.

Spring is Here! ... Hello Friend

As stated in my last post Spring has arrived in Round Lake Beach, IL.  The forecast is calling for 60's tomorrow, with 50's thru the weekend.  Of course, they're also calling for rain.  Spring showers bring may flowers. ;D

My second card was made for the Wee Memories Scrappy Saturday Challenge #47.

After stamping the images, I used a couple of copic markers to darken up the dots along the wavy border and darken up the branch a bit.  The blooms were not touched.  I rubbed the Memento Cottage Ivy ink over the scalloped circle to match the color of the wavy border.

Even though this card looks simple, it took me a while to get the look I wanted.  I stamped the stamps onto three different types of card stock until I like one.

Product spotlights ...
Stamps:  Darcie's POL27 Little Things Clear Stamps Set, and the sentiment from Wilson Design Spring Silhouettes set
Paper:  Paper Cut, Bazzill Dotted Swiss, DCWV Textured Brights Matstack
Ink:  Memento Rich Cocoa, Ross Bud and Cottage Ivy, and Copic Markers G29 & E59
Tools:  Nestabilities Scalloped Circles, ATG, and 3/16" Mini Glue Dots

Here's to hoping that you enjoy my Spring Card.

Thank you for stopping by.

What IF? Wednesday M911 ... Happy Easter

Another lovely day here in Round Lake Beach.  The sun is shining bright! I opened the windows for the first time in like forever.  ;D   Once I finished creating in my craft room, which is in the basement, I took my cards outside to take their pictures.

My first card is for the What IF? Wednesday Sketch Challenge (M911) over at The House that Stamps Built / Repeat Impressions.

I changed up the sketch a bit when creating this card.
I started coloring this cute bunny with my color pencils, and then used copic markers over the bunny.  Since I don't have special paper for my copic markers I discovered that coloring in the focal point with pencils first reduces the amount of bleeding when I use my copics.

Product spotlight ...
Stamps:  Repeat Impressions 702-K Clover Bunny, and DeNami F160 Small Happy Easter
Paper:  Bazzill, DCWV The Sweet Stack & The Bright Stack, and Paper Studio
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Prismacolor Pencils, and Copic Markers (C-1, C-0, E41, R00, R81, R20)
Extras:  Peapod Twine from The Twinery, and Hero Arts Pearls
Tools:  Martha Stewart Double Loop Corner Punch, Trimmer, 1/4" Mini Pop Dots, and 3/16" Mini Glue Dots

I hope you enjoyed seeing my take on the sketch.

Just a note

Lovely day here in Illinois. The temperatures are a rising! We hit 50 today! Yes!! Might hit 60's tomorrow.  Love it!

I took Katie to the dentist this morning, and I was sooo happy with the good report.  After dropping her off at school I took my car, more good news!  One tire was off balance, there was no major damage from hitting the pot hole.  After all my errands and getting dinner started, I got to spend about an hour in my craft room before Katie came home form school  I created this card for the DeNami Sketch Challenge #07.

I stayed true to the sketch provided by Michelle.  I decided to use the DeNami's N101 Espresso Scene, and highlighted the mugs using one of my copic markers, and then colored in the hearts with another.  Once I decided on the direction to take for this card it was pretty easy.

Product Spotlight ... DeNami N101 Espresso Scene, Peppered Moss paper from the Paper Cut and DCWV's Textured Brights, Memento Rich Cocoa Ink and Copic Markers E15 & E18, The Twinery Mandarin twine, and a button from Blumenthal.

Here's to hoping that my take on the sketch provides you with some inspiration to go forth and create.

Thank you for stopping by!

Winner Circle & Cut Above

Yesterday I received many lovely e-mails for my Floral Frenzy Blog Hop.  I also received two other lovely e-mails.

The first was Paper Players announcing the Winners for Theme Challenge #37.

My Spring card, which you can see here, was Jaydee's Choice for the weekly challenge.  This is what Jaydee had to say about my card:

"Pink and green just seem so perfect for Spring and Ruza's It's Spring card really made me smile.  I love all the little flowers with the pearl middles.  The curved shapes echoed against the scalloped background.  The textured feel of the lovely green background paper worked beautifully with the texture of the ribbon.  Everything seemed to work together to highlight the "It's Spring" sentiment.  Wonderful card Ruza, thank you for making me think Spring is almost here!

Thank you Jaydee for you kind words, and for choosing my card.

The second was from Sketchy Sunday announcing the Winners for {TG009} Sketch.

Tiffany chose my St. Patrick's Day card, which you can see here, as one of the Sunday Fave's!

Thank you Tiffany for this honor.  I really love playing along with your weekly sketch challenges.

I will be adding both of these badges to my blog page.

Hope the sun is shining on you as it is on me, as I sit here composing this post.

Thank you for stopping by!

Welcome Home Baby

The Lawnscaping Challenge Blog has an interesting challenge for us this week.

Create a card using the Lawn Fawn stamps in an unconventional way.  Great idea, as all of the stamps are so versatile and can be used in many different way.  I incorporated four (4) different sets to create my card.  Here it is!

Perfect to accompany a gift to welcome home the new baby.

Lawn Fawn Stamps featured are ... Critters in the Snow Partly Cloudy, Jessie's ABC's, and Sophie's Sentiments for the little flower.  All of the paper is from Bazzill.  They were actual large scraps I had laying around; big but not big enough for a standard size card.  I inked up the lovely stamps with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, Archival Brilliance Pearlescent Orchid & Moonlight ink, and colored in the cute bear with my Copic Markers (B000, BG13, G72 & W-2).  I used my Nestabilities Labels One to create the card, and used my ATG and 3/16" Mini Glue Dots to attach the bear.

Here's to hoping that you enjoy my creation.

Thank you for stopping by!

Happy Birthday CASE card

Case M2

Now for the my second post for the day.

My birthday card was made for The House that Stamps Built Case Challenge M2, and the DeNami Floral Frenzy Challenge.

Note:  My sister just told me that I have the Peace Sign upside down on this card.  Oops!  I was not a flower child, and didn't pay attention when I put the card together.  Hope I don't affend anyone with my error.

I used floral stamps from both Repeat Impression and Denami to create this card.  The peace sign is made of daisies, so combining it with the DeNami Daisy stamp was the perfect choice for this card.  This will go to my niece, Sarah, who turns 8 this year.  She is sooo into the "Peace" phase that is going on right now.

You can see the yellow stickles on the DeNami daisy.  I also added the stickles to the center of each daisy on the peace sign, but it's a little hard to see.
