Wishing you calm winds ...

It's hard to believe that August is almost over, Katie is starting her 2nd week of school today, and my son Nick will be celebrating his 1-yr Anniversay of being married to his lovely wife Lauren next week.  Time seems to be flying by!

I have a new Digi Makeover Challenge to share with you today.
This week's challenge is a little easier than last weeks Tent-Topper so I hope you will play along.

I love the nautical theme of today's challenge.  So here goes ...

For today's project I used a couple of the images and the sentiment from the Sailing Away Stamp Set. To get the 3D effect for my design I printed out two copies of the fun sailboats, colored them with my Copic Markers, and fussy cut them out so I could paper piece them back together using Mini Glue Dots and 3D Foam Squares.  I put the lighthouse on an island that was created with a piece of scrap paper that I tore up and distressed.  When I think of lighthouses I always think of stripes ... so I drew my own horizontal stripes with a ruler and some Copic Multi-Liner pens, and added some color to the base.  Yellow Stickles was used to make the golden beacon for the lighthouse.  The cardstock that I used for my background is from Core-Cards Brights, which I punched along the bottom and distressed with a sander.  Once all the elements/stamps were layered on the card I add some Waterfall Stickles to create white-cap waves.

I love the masculine feel of this card, and since I haven't added a sentiment inside yet it leaves the possibilities open  ... birthday, retirement, encouragement, etc.

The only requirement to play along with the Digi Makeover Challenges beside the obvious, is that you must use a Digital Stamp for your project. After all it is a Digital Challenge. ;o)

I hope you'll come over to
Digi Makeover, check-out what the rest of the Design Team created, and welcome our Guest Designer Anda (Flying Fresian).

Come join in the FUN for a chance to win 3 Digital Stamps from Paper Makeup Stamps.

On another note, I hope you join us on Wednesday, August 29th, for our Blog Hop for Jen Scull.  There are some amazing Designers who will be providing you with inspirational projects, and there will be lots of prizes up for grabs also.

Call me!

Hi there!  Popping in with a quick card I created this afternoon for the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #49.

I love this Just Hello stamp set that I recently got from Neat & Tangled, and it was the perfect set to use for this challenge.

I stamped the telephone 5-times, colored it with my Copic Markers, fussy cut them out, layered them together with Mini Glue Dots, and then popped them onto my design with 3D Foam Squares.

Now for the sketch ...

I'm going to send this one out to my girlfriend. We haven't spoken in quite sometime, and the last time we communicated via text she said she would call. LOL! This will be my reminder for her. ;o)

Until next time ... Enjoy!

Vicious Villains Honey's Blog Hop ...

Sassy Studio Designs

Welcome to the Sassy Studio Designs "Vicious Villains Honey's" Blog Hop.

You should have arrived at my blog from Sassy Studio Designs Blog.  However, if you just arrived head on back to the SSD Blog for a list of all the participants in today's Blog Hop!

I've had so much fun playing with the evil Lady Tremaine!

... so here is the full reveal ...

Isn't she awesome!
Lindsey did an amazing job with her and all the other Villains!

To create this lovely scene I first printed and colored my Villain with Copic Markers, fussy cut her out, and set her aside!  The adorable house is from the Sweet Home stamps set by Neat & Tangled, and the trees are from the Promenade stamp set from Paper Smooches.  Each were colored with Copic Markers and fussy cut.  The stone walkway was created from grey scraps using Tiny Bubbles Embossing Folder from Cuttlebug and daubing some Gathered Twigs Distress Ink from Tim Holtz on the circles.  Once I had these pieces done, I cut out two pieces of the Memory Box Rounded Fence Die, pulled out some Halloween DP for the background and put it all together.  The final step was to add that super FUN sentiment I created.

Here's a close-up of Lady Tremaine ...

Copic Markers ... E00, E01 & E02 (skin), V01, V12, V15 & V17 (clothes), C9, Cy, C5, C3 & C1 (hair).
A Gelly Roll Clear Star Sparkle Pen was used on her hair.

My inspiration for the scene is that lovely key Lady Tremaine is holding ... you see she locked Cinderella in the house ... and the Lady said to Cinderella ... Bibbidi Bobbidi Humf!!! LOL!

I really enjoyed creating this card to share with you, but Cinderella isn't my favorite Disney Movie.  That would have to be "Beauty & The Beast"!  Maybe we need some Sassy for this Disney Movie! Hmmm!

Now head off to see what Soma created with this awesome Villain. Remember to stop by the SSD Blog for all of the details about today's hop, the Scavenger Hunt, and what you win for playing along with our Scavenger Hunt. Then head on over to the SSD Store to grab your new Honey's, and see all of the other lovely Digital Images that are available.

The Design Team will be partying over at the SSD Party Blog tonight starting at 10:00 PM EST.

Thank you for hopping with us, and I hope you have a marvelous weekend!

Until next time ... Enjoy!

QKR Stampede Challenge #2

This is my second post today, please scroll down
for my Sassy Studio Designs PCP Freebie Friday post!

Today is the start of a new Challenge over on the QKR Stampede Blog.

Challenge #2 is ... Anything Goes

You can use any type of Rubber or Digital Stamp to participate in our Challenges. All we ask is that you have FUN and submit a NEW project, no back-linking.

For my card I used the adorable stamp called "At the Park".  Those Raggedy Ann dolls are so CUTE, and were so much fun to color.  The stamp is available in Digital and Red Rubber.

Here's another view ...

From this side view you can see that I popped up my Raggedy Ann's.  How was this done?  I printed two copies of the Digital stamps, colored the Raggedy Ann dolls on one and only colored the areas that I planned to pop up with the darkest color, and of course the background.  I then fussy cut out the dolls and attached them with Mini & PopUp Glue Dots.  I added some bling to the center of the flowers and then used them for their eyes.

Did you see the stitching on my card? Hah! I picked up a small sewing machine that only does straight stitches so I don't have to take out my big sewing machine for a wee bitty card. It's not straight but this is the first time I've ever done this.

The rest of the Design Team created some awesome projects to inspire you, so don't forget to head on over to the QKR Blog to see their projects and get all the details about this weeks Challenge.

Until next time ... Enjoy!

Sassy Freebie Friday at PCP ...

This is my 2nd post of the day.
Please scroll down for the QKR Stampede Challenge.

It's Friday, and that means it's time for another Sassy Studio Designs FREEBIE over at our Paper Craft Planet SSD Group.

This week we continue with our Challenge theme ... "Slippery When Wet"

This lovely is called "Mermaid Mandy", and I created a lovely "Under the Sea" scene to put her in.  Mandy was colored with my Copic Markers, and fussy cut out.  The sea creatures surrounding Mandy are from the Surf & Turf stamp set by Paper Smooches.  Each of the under the sea images were stamped on various pieces of scrap paper, Copic Markers were used on 2 of the fishes, and some googly eyes. I love how the one fish looks a little like Nemo.  The seaweed is buried in the sandy bottom of the ocean. I added some Tumbled Glass Distress Ink from Tim Holtz the the cream base but it doesn't really show in the picture. ;(

Here is a closer look at Mandy ...
Copic Markers: E21 & E30 (skin), YR23, YR21, Y21 & YR31 (hair), BG13 (eyes), E04 (lips), Goo, BG01 & BG13 (clothes),
Gelly Roll Clear Star Pen.

I don't know if you can see the shimmer from the Clear Star Pen.  It was used on her seashells top, along the top of her fin, and for the chain of her star necklace.

The rest of the Sassy Designers created some gorgeous projects to inspire you this week. So head on over to the SSD Group to see their projects, grab your FREE image, and join in the FUN! Remember "Mermaid Mandy" is only available for 24-hours.

Going Fishing ...

I have a super cute card to share with you today, and I'm also sharing it over on the QKR Stampede Blog.  My card ties in perfectly with our FIRST EVER QKR Stampede Challenge #1 called "End of Summer", which is going on now.

Simon Says Stamp current Challenge is all about "Animal Antics", and this guy is perfect for the challenge.

This fun guy is called "Going Fishing". He was colored with a variety of Copic Markers, and I can honestly say I didn't keep track of them while I was coloring this time. He is so fun and quirky that I just had a blast working with him. I will probably use this as a birthday card for my nephew later this year since he loves to fish. ;o)

Going Fishing (6605)
is available in the
QKR Store in Digital format and in Red Rubber.

My design is based on the i{heart}2stamp August Sketch!

Until next ... Enjoy!

Digi Makeover Challenge #50

Good morning and Happy Monday all!  Today is the start of a new week and time for a NEW Paper Makeup Stamps Challenge.

This week we challenge you to create a Tent-Topper card.  For those of you not sure how to even get started with this challenge, head on over to Splitcoast Stampers for this tutorial.

Before we get to my card, let us welcome our newest Digi Makeup Artist Ardilla to the Paper Makeup Stamps Design Team.  We also have a Guest Artist this week ... welcome Rachel Fisher.

I used the sweet stamp called A Couple of Moodies for today's project.  I printed out two (2) copies of the stamp, colored the background and couple separately with my Copic Markers.  I used my Nestabilities Circle Die to cut  out the background, applied some distress ink, and fussy cut out the couple to layer on the background with Mini Glue Dots and 3D Foam Squares.  As you can see I used a few layers for my topper.

Here is a closeup of the couple ...

When I was coloring the couple I was thinking of my son and his wife, so I added a bit of scruff to the young man's face to make him look more like my son. LOL!  I am giving the loving couple this card for their 1-yr Anniversary in 2-weeks.

The only requirement to play along with the Digi Makeover Challenges beside the obvious, is that you must use a Digital Stamp for your project. After all it is a Digital Challenge. ;o)

I hope you'll come over to
Digi Makeover, check-out what the rest of the Design Team created, and then join in the FUN for a chance to win 3 Digital Stamps from Paper Makeup Stamps.

Until next time ... Enjoy!

Let's Chat ...

While hanging with Katie in the basement today I had a chance to create this card for the Meljen's Designs Challenge #123 ~ Tie on a Ribbon.

Card size: 8" x 4"

I colored the lovely Girl Talk with colors representing the Chicago Bears.  What can I say, I'm from Chicago and a Bears Fan.  The background was created with one of the sentiments from the Just Hello stamp set from Neat & Tangled, which is a new stamp company.

Here is a close-up of Girl Talk ...
Copic Markers:  E00, E31 & E21 (skin), YR04, YR07, YR09, B95, B97 & B99 (clothes), E79, E59, E57 & E35 (hair), RV29 (lips)

Happy Thoughts Coming Your Way ...

I don't know if you heard yet, but there is a NEW Challenge Blog and I will have to admit it's a challenge!  It's called ... 10-Minute Craft Dash

This Challenge is to create a card/project in 10-minutes of less!  I can honesty say this really was a challenge for me.  I have everything together to use, but tend to constantly change how I put together the final project together.  I truly tried three times, and the 3rd time was the charm.

I pulled out my Perfectly Perfect Day stamp set from Avocado Arts to create my 1-layer card.  That is the only way I could think of to create a card under the time specified.  I paper pieced the hot air balloon to add some dimension.

This card took me 9-min and 20-seconds.

I gave it my best shot!

Until next time ... Enjoy!

This lovely Sassy is called "Towel Tammy"!  She was colored with Copic Markers, fussy cut out and placed on my design with Mini Glue Dots & 3D Foam Squares.  The flowers you see were crocheted by me.  I have seen many crocheted flowers in the store, and I've been crocheting for 35+ years so I decided to make make my own.  I have all of the tools and material so no money left my pocketbook for these lovelies.

If you arrived at my blog from Karen, you are on the right track.  However, if you just arrived head on over to the SSD Blog to start at the beginning.  The Design Team has done an amazing job with these Sassy Honey's from around the world, and I'm sure you don't want to miss any of them.

 HAPPY BIRTHDAY LINDSAY!

My card features the lovely Philippines Honey!  I really loved reading your guesses on Facebook from the Sneak Peak I showed you.  Honey was colored with my Copic Markers, and I created this background based on this photo of the Tapplia Waterfalls in the Philippines I saw on Lonely Planet

Now I know my design doesn't really look like this photo, but I was inspired by the streaming water and trees.

Sassy Freebie Friday at PCP ...

Good morning!  It's time for another SSD Freebie Friday at Paper Craft Planet in the Sassy Studio Designs Group.  Our Birthday Theme Challenge continues for another week with a new FREE image for our Group Members.
This weeks FREE image is
 ... Cowardly Lion Honey ...

Honey was colored with Copic Markers and fussy cut out.  The sentiment is from Create with TLC which I brought into MS Word and added a frame around to match her outfit.  The Woodgrain background was created with Paper Studio's A2 Woodgrain Embossing Folder.  When I removed the Bazzill cardstock from the folder it ripped a little at the top so I added a couple more rips for added texture.

The rest of the Sassy Designers created some gorgeous projects to inspire you this week.  So head on over to the SSD Group to see their projects, grab your FREE image, and join in the FUN!  Remember "Cowardly Lion Honey" is only available for 24-hours.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:
Until next time ... Enjoy!
