Christmas in July ...

Good evening all. My blog has been pretty quiet lately as I try and get out of the slump I've been in.

Today's project was created for the Make it Crafty FB Freebie Christmas Challenge. I got my card done just in time, as the challenge ends today. So let's have a look!

I created a winter theme with a combination of dies and a stencil for the lovely Fairy Twinkle! Copic Markers were my medium for coloring the image, and the snow was created with Whipped Spackle. I didn't wait for the spackle to dry when I took my photos this evening. Looking forward to see how it looks once dried.

Copics: E000, E00, E04, E11 & E21 (skin); Y21, YR12, YR14, E15 & E18 (hair)
V000, V01, V04, V06, BV00, BV11, BV13, BV17 (outfit/wings); Y21, Y23, Y26 & Y28 (bell)

A Fond Farewell ...

Good morning! I'm hosting the Art by Miran Blog for the last time today. I started as one of the original Designer's chosen by Mi Ran to showcase her images 1-1/2 years ago. I've had an amazing time working with all of the images offered by Art by Miran so I created a Farewell Post featuring some of my favorite projects.

Details about each of the images used for these cards are located on the Art by Miran Blog, with links back to my original post(s) here on my blog.

I want to personally thank Mi Ran for having me on this amazing team, and providing me with so many wonderful images to work with. I look forward to seeing all of the NEW Designer's creations, as I will always be a FAN!

I appreciate you stopping by today.
Until next time ... Enjoy!

Wishing you a FROG-tastic day! ...

Good morning and Happy Friday! It's Release Week at Sami Stamps today, and I love the adorable new collection of Frogs in Hat & Glasses!

This adorable guy is called Top Hat Frog! When I saw him, the sentiment just popped into my head so I knew he was the one to work with. I created the sentiment in MS Word. I printed several copies of the image, colored with my trusty Copic Markers and paper-pieced him to add dimension.

Distress Ink was applied along the bottom and behind the image, and then I layered him on my design based on the Freshly Made Sketch #191. Final step was to add enamel dots, and use liquid pearls for his eyes.

You can see the dimension I created with this photo.

Now lets look at all of the New Images being Released this week!

Make sure you hop on over to Sami Stamps Blog to see what the other Designers created with the New Release. You still have time to join our current Sami Stamps Challenge so make sure you head on over to the store to grab some of these adorable images for yourself!

Happy Birthday to You ...

Good morning! I'm hosting the Art by Miran Blog today. Our "Theme" for the month of June is to create "Anything but a Square Card". Since I don't make many square cards, this one is easy for me.

One of my nieces will be tuning 18 next month so I printed up the lovely Flutterby. I colored her while on vacation last week while my daughter napped. I only took Copic Markers for the skin, and then colored the rest of her with my Faber-Castell Polychrome Pencils. It's the first time I've combined mediums for coloring. It was a challenge but I love how she turned out.

I fussy cut  Flutterby after I got home. My design was inspired by the Sweet Sunday Sketch #273. The top and bottom border, along with the birthday sentiment are SRM Stickers.

I changed up the sketch a bit by adding the sentiment across the front on Grafix Clear Craft Plastic, and then left off the circle. I used my Copic Air Brush to color the doily using Copic YR02 & YR04, and then applied the same colors to the background behind Flutterby.

I appreciate you stopping by today.
Until next time ... Enjoy!

Heroes Like Dad and a New Challenge ...

Good morning and Happy Friday! It's Release Week at Sami Stamps today, and we also have a NEW Challenge for you to play along with for the month of June.

With Father's Day fast approaching this weeks Release is perfect for the Dad or that special guy in your life! It's called Heroes Like Dad!

I chose to work with the Army Hero image from this weeks release. I'll explain why in a bit. Copic Markers were used to color this awesome image, which I fussy cut out. This months Challenge Theme of "Add Stripes" is so perfect for the image. I pulled out my design paper and a couple of dies and got to work. The design is clean and simple, perfect for mailing without all of the bulk.

A couple weeks ago my sister, Danica, shared a FB Post about Seaman 1st Class James Ralph Kutz of Kokomo, Indiana. He is a veteran who served during WWII and he is turning 100-years old on June 15, 2015. I knew that I wanted to send him a card for his birthday to wish him the best and thank him for his dedication to our country. When I saw this weeks release, especially Army Hero I had to create a card for Mr. Kutz. I know he wasn't in the army, but I didn't have any Navy images on hand.

If you would like to send Seaman 1st Class James Ralph Kutz a card yourself, that would be awesome. Cards are being mailed to ...
Salena Catron
c/o James Ralph Kutz
3310 Orleans Drive
Kokomo, IN  46902

You can also read about and see pictures of Mr. Kutz on FB here. The kindness of this young lady is heartwarming and I wish I could be a fly on the wall when he received all of the mail for his birthday!

Now lets look at all of the images being released.

Make sure you hop on over to Sami Stamps Blog to see what the other Designers created with the New Release and for Challenge #26 AND then hop on over to store to grab some of these lovely images for yourself!

Dreaming of Spring Bookmark ...

Good morning! I'm hosting the Art by Miran Blog today. Our "Theme" for the month of June is "Anything but a Square Card".

I'm an avid book reader, digital and hard copy,  and decided to make myself a bookmark using Dreaming of Spring. I printed 2-copies of the image, colored up the girl with my Copic Markers and fussy cut her out. I recently picked up the Copic Air-Brushing System and decided to try using this vs. my distress inks to create the sky. I used the B06 for the sky, then colored in the grass manually, and used a bookmark die to cut it out. Once done, I attached the little girl and flower to the bookmark, and used DCM-798 Embroidery thread for the tassel.

I'm looking forward to using this beauty over the summer as I sit in the sun reading.

We would love for you to become a follower of the Art by Miran Blog, along with visiting our shop to see all of the wonderful images Art by Miran has to offer. If you have time we would also love for you to join our FB Fan Group & Challenge Page, where you can chat with Mi Ran and the rest of the Design Team Members. House of Cards Blog Hop ...

To say goodbye and thank you, we're celebrating with a Blog Hop! You should have arrived from Rocky. However, if you just arrived make sure you head on over to House of Cards so you can start at the beginning. This hop will run from June 1st at 6:00 AM CST through June 15th at Noon CST, any card style is welcome and we've got a gorgeous photo inspiration for your crafting enjoyment!

We have several fabulous Sponsors who generously offered prizes for the Hop! Make sure you leave a comment at each person's blog along the way because the prizes are hidden, and we'll be doing random drawings from the blogs where the prizes are hidden! After you're done, make a creation to share with us for another chance to win!

Now for our fabulous Sponsors!
Our team will be using a variety of products from these amazing companies!

Now for my creations ...

My first card features one of the Roses in Deedee's Digis Rose Regards Collection.

I printed several copies of the Rose, colored with my Copic Markers, and layered them to create a 3D Rose.

The flourish die behind the Rose was cut out of Eclectic Vintage Printable Papers, Honeyed Berry. Layered on vintage cream cardstock with the sentiment and enamel dots, and added to my card.

My second card features the adorable Puppy Peaking (H264S) and coordinating Peaking In Sentiment (E865S) from Great Impressions.

I love how great these stamps are! You get a clean and crisp image the first time you add ink to them. Copic Markers were used to color the image, and distress ink was applied for the sky background. I layered the image on French Roast and Vintage Cream cardstock, added the sentiment and colored in the leaves. The final touch was to add Buttercup Liquid Pearls to the center of the flowers.

My third and final card was created with the Eclectic Vintage Printable Papers, Magenta Damask and image from Inspired by Stamping Vintage Digital Printables.

I printed the Magenta Damask 1, layered the digital paper on vintage cream cardstock, added the decorative Pearls and one of the images in the Vintage Digital Printables to the center with 3D foam squares.

Your next stop in the hop is Tammy!

Don't forget to leave a comment on each post along the hop, and then link up a project with us after completing the hop for an extra chance to win a Mystery Prize from one of our fabulous Sponsors.

Until next time ... Enjoy!
