Wee Memories Scrappy Saturday Challenge / Denami Product Challenge #5

When I saw the Holiday Music Inspiration Challenge by Wee Memories I was really excited.  The challenge is Sponsored by DeNami Designs.  I really LOVE the concept and plan to incorporate it into my holiday cards for next year, since this year’s holiday cards have already been mailed.  Since I used a punch around the edges of my card I decided to also submit this for the DeNami Product Challenge #5 - Punches.

One of my favorite holiday songs is “Mama Liked the Roses” by Elvis Presley.  The song is on Elvis’s White Christmas Album.  It’s a sad, but heartwarming song.   I don’t have any stamps of people so I went with the roses.

The entire card was made out of paper.  I stamped the Christmas Rose onto pink, red, green and light green paper.  I used my Fiskars Fingertip blade to cut out only the roses on the red and pink paper, and around the leaves on the green and light green paper (I left the rose in the center).  I also took out the swirls that were around the roses.   I then attached the red and pink roses on top of the leaves.  I used a Black Copic Small Brush marker around the edges of the roses and leaves to cover up the paper color.  Double stick tape was used to attach the ribbon so the paper wouldn’t bow, and ¼” pop dots were used to attach the roses to the card.  I was going to put the words “Mama Liked the Roses” on white paper and then attach it to the ribbon but it just didn’t look right.  I think my second option worked better.  The card looks a lot cleaner and you can still see the design of the paper behind the ribbon.
