Just Chilling ...

Good afternoon. Just hoping in to share a card I created for the Make it Crafty CAS Challenge - Background Techniques. I'm cutting it close for the challenge, but had a lot of FUN creating my background for today's card.

I printed two (2) copies of this awesome image called Scott Sitting. I colored one image with my trusty Copic Markers, and fussy cut him out. The second image was used to create the background for today's card. I used a ruler and a pencil to draw in the lines for my floor and wall. Once done I went over the lines with a 0.35 Black Copic Multi-Liner, as shown in the picture below.

Once I finished creating the background I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink to add my color. Post-it notes were used to cover the area I didn't want to ink, and then I commenced with applying the Walnut Stain to the floor with a dauber. For the walls I reversed the post-it notes, and used Kleenex to dab the walls with Antique Linen & Tea Dye. I really love how the wall turned out.

Next up was to create the floor board since I didn't like how the finished background looked. I layered 1/8" white cardstock on top of  1/4" piece, and then added the floor board to my design. Once done, I added Scott Sitting to the scene with a combination of 3D foam square (thin & standard size) and tape. The final touch was to add black rhinestones to the shirt for the buttons.

I really enjoyed creating the background for this cool guy. My son was the inspiration for the colors that were used for the image, and it will be his birthday card this year.

Until next time ... Enjoy!
