Graduation card ...

Good morning! I'm hosting the Art by Miran Blog today. Our "Theme" for the month of May is to add "Twine/Fiber" to your project.

This lovely is called Graduating Kim! One of my nieces is graduating from High School later this month so I created the card in her school colors ... hunter green/white. Kim was colored with my Copic Markers, and then fussy cut out and put on the side. The design of my graduation card was inspired by Sketch Saturday #359.

My "Fiber" is embroidery thread (DMC 500) from my stash. I used the thread to create the lines in the sketch, and attached it with my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher along with some tape along the back of the cardstock. I created a layered backdrop for Kim using my MFT Pcd Rectangle STAX die, layered it on my design leaving the background white. It looked a little blah at this point so I stamped a couple sentiments sporadically around my design. It still needed more so I daubed a kleenex with the same ink used for the sentiment, and just blotted it on the background.

Here's a closer look ...

Copics: E000, E00, E04, E11, E21 & R20 (skin); YR21, YR23, YR24 & E09 (hair)
G20, G24, G28 & G29 (cap & gown)

Beautiful! I like how you used the floss to create the lines of the background panel. I need to make 6 graduation cards this month - guess I'd better get busy. I like how you used a repeating pattern in the school colors. Thanks for joining us at Sketch Saturday!
