Good afternoon. Today is the start of a NEW Challenge over at Rubbernecker Stamps. This fortnight our Challenge #21 is Copper and Gold.
When I saw this fortnights challenge I was a little stumped. Copper & Gold is a lovely combination, but I've been in a crafty slump and wasn't sure what to do. I tried embossing the sentiment with gold ink, and failed many times. I'm terrible at embossing. So what do I do????
I remembered that I had some DCWV Foils Metallic Cardstock. I took one of the copper colored sheets and my PTI Linen & Canvas Impression Plate, ran it thru my Big Shot, and put it on the side. Now to figure out the gold, since my embossing skills didn't work.
While thinking about the gold I stamped the "Choose You" Sentiment (788-03) with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on PTI Vintage Cream Cardstock, cut it out with one of the RN Nested Rectangle Stitched Dies (5007D), and put it on the side.
Still thinking about how to incorporate gold into the design in my head, I remembered that I had a 18Kt Gold Leaf Pen. After testing the pen to make sure it still worked, I figured it out. I went around the edges of my cut out sentiment with the Gold Leaf Pen and loved the looked. So I used the largest of the RN Nested Rectangle Stitched Dies (5007D) with the same Vintage Cream Cardstock, and added the gold around the edges. I cut down the "copper" cardstock and layered the pieces together on my cardbase. The final step was to add the golden enamel dots.
The pattern and texture of the copper cardstock looks really amazing in person, and I love how the copper and gold just pop!
Hop on over for to the Rubbernecker Blog for all of the details about the Challenge, and then join in the FUN for a chance to WIN an amazing prize!
